DIGITIZING

CONSTRUCTION

Scaled Robotics is a Barcelona based construction robotics company with a mission to digitize construction. With robotics and machine learning, we are building new tools that can track, analyze and optimize construction.

OUR HISTORY

The Founders

Stuart, an architect with a background in Computational design, meets Bharath, a
Roboticist and Computer Scientist. Together they discuss how we are trying
to build 21st-century buildings with 20th-century tools and decide to embark
on a new adventure to modernize construction… Scaled Robotics

2014

Raising pre-seed

Scaled Robotics raises a €1 million pre-seed investment from PERI. It marks
the beginning of three pilot projects, building new partnerships that continues
to this day.

2016

First live demo

Scaled Robotics showcased their innovations in action to GPE for their building project in the heart of Whitechapel in the UK.

2017

TechCrunch Disrupt Battlefield

Scaled Robotics takes first place at the annual TechCrunch Disrupt Battlefield
event in Berlin thanks to its innovative solution for construction after having
competed against 14 other outstanding startups.

2019

Raising seed round

Scaled Robotics raises a €2 million seed
investment, led by European firms
Norwegian Construct Venture and
PropTech Fund Surplus.

Public Beta launch

Scaled Robotics launches the beta version of its software to the general
construction industry.

2020

MEET THE TEAM

We are a diverse mix of individuals driven by passion and expertise. Our cross-collaborative team of roboticists, engineers, mathematicians, computer scientists and architects, has fostered a vibrant environment of multifaceted problem solving where we bring new and unique perspectives to the problems facing the construction industry.

Stuart Maggs

CEO

An architect by training with a passion for construction robotics.

Bharath Sankaran, PhD

CTO

A roboticist with a background in computer vision, mobile manipulation and machine learning. I am generally fascinated by how motion and perception are related to each other.

Abdó Roig-Maranges, PhD

Director of Engineering and Resident Mathemagician
In a past life, I studied mathematics and did research on algebraic geometry. But since I was a child I loved building things, so now I work on robotics and machine learning. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, algebraic varieties and good food.

Pol Cirujeda, PhD

Engineering Manager and 3D Perception Chef
I wanted to be a cook since I was a kid but fiddling with pixels, floppy disks, and processor instructions was way safer than stoves. I am fascinated by 3D computer vision and computational geometry. Out of the office I perceive the world through a camera and take overdoses of medically prescribed hiking.

Alejandro Nespereira

Senior Software Engineer and Computer Visionista
I am a vision researcher with an incredible memory for useless facts. When I am not busy breaking my head over spatial transforms I can be found breaking my bones at the nearest rock climbing wall.

Björn Wahle

Senior Software Engineer
I started web development when the <blink> tag was still hot stuff. Later I did a Masters in Artificial Intelligence. When I finished, the <blink> tag was gone and the Internet Explorer isn't the most annoying thing to optimize for anymore. Also known as the guy that has a different football shirt for each day in the week.

Andres Tuells

Senior Software Engineer and Software Forger
I am a theoretical physicist that enjoys making complex things simple but not simpler. In my spare time, I love to perform comedy where I enjoy making simple things complicated but not complex. The yin and yang of life.

François Chataigner

Senior Software Engineer
Software Engineer with a passion for robotics. I've been lucky to work with all kinds of robots, from underwater vehicles in the lochs of Scotland, to aerial drones in the sewers of Barcelona. When I am not debugging, I love spending time in the mountains.

Pau Beso

Business Developer
Over the past ten years as a Civil Engineer, I have been blasting tunnels and building bridges across the beautiful Norwegian fjords. But not long ago I came across this four-wheeled robot that changed my life and sparked my interest in digital and analytics.  In my spare time, I like getting lost in East-African jungles and Norwegian arctic islands.

Alba Pujol, PhD

Software Engineer
Computer vision engineer who likes to see the world in 3D. When I'm not moving point clouds I can be found hiking or climbing around.

Alba Herrera

Software Engineer
Computer Vision engineer with a passion for robotics. Not much of a trainer myself, but I am always training some machine learning model.

Natalia Niño

Business Administrator & Communigator
Multicultural communicator with a detail-oriented mindset. I tear large quantities of information into bite-size pieces as needed, acting as primary liaison between the company, staff, service providers and other parties.  Out of the office, I enjoy wolfing down Italian pizza with my kids.

Alejandro Mora

PhD student/Associate Engineer

PC on the desk and sensors at hand, my interests lie on how to apply geometry, computer vision and machine learning to process multimodal data and enable autonomy in robots.  I also enjoy hiking and playing guitar whenever I am not optimizing stuff.

Fatma Nur Arabaci

Machine Learning Intern

An electronics engineer with a background in Robotics, who is also excited about machine learning algorithms. As part of my daily routine, I extrapolate from incomplete data and train models to make them smarter as I learn from them in the process. My biggest virtues are being a cat-mom of two and having a captain’s license

Claudia Escalona

UX- UI Designer

UX Designer and Architect.
I like to keep things simple.

Gjeorgjia Lilo

AEC Specialist and BIM Tamer

Trained as an architect with a deep passion about the technical aspect of the field, and more specifically, construction sites. I take great pleasure in cooking for friends and family, then going for long hikes to balance things out.

Matthew Gordon

AEC Intern & BIM Tamer
I am a designer and researcher in architecture and digital art, and always want to combine new disciplines and ideas. Also I know that cooking should be as experimental as sciences.

Vicky Kurlander

AEC Intern
Architect, Green Building Consultant and LEED Green Associate, as seen passionate about environmental issues, as well as everything related with the construction industry.  When I am not working I like doing physical activity and going outdoors.

Eloi Bové

Associate Engineer/Intern / CVSM – Computer Vision Strategy Master
I am a Computer Vision engineer that got tired of tuning hyperparameters and now I am trying to learn about SLAM and Robotics. In my free time I am a strategy board game enthusiast and I also quite enjoy a pint of craft beer.

Núria Coma

Junior Front End Developer
An architect who likes programming and who is always looking for new challenges. I love frogs, dogs and cats. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and my friends.

Ankit Pandey

Project Management Intern
An engineer with an affinity for order. I’m enthusiastic about efficiency of getting things done. When not tinkering timesheets, I like to travel and look through my camera.

Damián Fernández

Full Stack Engineer

I am an Informatics engineer with passion for the latest trends on fullstack web development. At different times of the day I can either be the fireman of the code, the wizard of football or the soldier of the old school videogames. If you want to find me, ask for the guy who didn’t watch Star Wars.

Alexander Pankratov

DevOps Engineer

Hey look, buddy. I’m an engineer, that means I solve problems. Not problems like “What is beauty?“, ’cause that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems.

Jorge Fueyo

Software Engineer

Software Engineer but a gamer at heart. After trying many different fields I fell in love with computer vision and high performance computing. When I'm not fixing bugs, I'm usually gaming or playing chess.

Jonathan Lysiak

Fullstack Engineer

A former car mechanic turned Full Stack Developer. I live to troubleshoot issues, apply solutions, and confirm fixes. In my spare time I enjoy collecting and repairing retro video games and riding motorcycles.
