The world is currently going through the 4th Industrial Revolution, characterized by artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital fabrication and robotics, just to name just a few. At Scaled Robotics we are set to work on some of these previously disjointed fields to modernize construction.

Construction is one of the world’s largest and most significant industries and yet is outdated and unsustainable as it currently operates. Shockingly, most on-site workers still rely on drawn-out plans and information stored on scraps of paper to do their job. Besides, they have no quick and accurate tools to compare the built structure to the digital model. It is a setting with large room for mistakes… costly mistakes. For example, HVAC technicians may find that the space designed for an air duct is missing within a ceiling: an issue that could result in a complete rework of the area. Such errors take time to resolve and escalate the project costs.

At Scaled Robotics we believe that the development of new construction tools will be at the forefront of solving these industry problems. Using robots and terrestrial laser scanners, we collect data on-site by scanning as many elements as desired and when desired. This data is then uploaded to our software platform where it is compared to the BIM and analyzed using A.I & Machine Learning algorithms. The analysis results are then presented on an easy to use web-based software platform that allows site managers to constantly monitor projects, identify errors in near real-time and correct them early.

Our web-based and analysis software is agnostic to the reality capture platform that customers may use on their projects. We ensure that every customer gets the same high-quality analysis and experience. This allows them to track critical variables on-site which facilitates data-driven decision making and collaboration, a much-needed paradigm shift within the construction industry.

Scaled Robotics wants to move construction away from ineffective manual processes towards a more data-driven approach, bridging the gap between construction’s old practices and new technologies. This digitization offers abilities that were previously impossible to the construction industry improving processes, productivity, and quality.

As the world is facing unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this technology is playing a crucial role in allowing for essential work to continue without jeopardizing budget sustainability and without putting workers’ health at risk.
